Jeffrey W. Moss - Founder/Chief Creative Officer
Born in 1965, Jeff Moss was brought up in the world of the creative and different. Raised in Maine, his parents, Bill & Marilyn Moss, built a highly successful company along with his Father’s fabric inventions called Moss Tents. These tents were the number one expedition, backpacking and extreme weather tents in the world. Bill Moss' fabric innovations revolutionalized the outdoor industry. She then turned the concept of tension structures into the world’s largest, most innovative exhibit design and fabrication corporation. She changed the face the exhibit industry as we know it.
Later on, Jeff attended a boarding school in Massachusetts that had an intense focus on the arts. Jeff had the opportunity to study classical art, drawing, painting as well as several musical instruments. Moss went to The Boston Museum School for the Arts to study design. After school, he moved to Arizona to learn about the new Macintosh computers for design. This is where he stared his business career of design and advertising. In 1985, he began the building of his reputation as a creative. He worked as Art director to AT&T and then on to art direct a few other companies before he decided to start his own agency. During this time, Moss had been worked in the creative industry of advertising, branding and design as a “hands on” art director and creative director for over the next 20 years. Through his skills in networking and relationship building, he has brought in and worked with clients such as Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenburg with GameWorks, Petsmart, Polygram Records, Houston’s Restaurants, Diageo; Cuervo, Bailey’s, Ciroc Vodka, Captain Morgans, Smirnoff Vodka, The Phoenix Film Festival, International Horror & Sci Fi Film Festival, Morgans Hotel Group, Monterey Homes, The Dial Corporation, Sara Lee Foods, The Phoenix Coyotes and more. Moss has been responsible for the many creative concepts and brands seen all over the world. Moss has won several awards including Addys and Tellys and has been published in several international design publications. His work experience spans through strategic brand design and development, budget management, print campaigns, television commercials, film/video, outdoor, direct mail, web design, internet marketing campaigns, brand directed event promotions, and branded merchandise development. During his thirty year career, Moss grew his reputation as a creative, as well as his reputation as a fearless social connector. He has met and befriended celebrities, sports figures, comedians, actors, directors, producers as well as several other talented creatives in many different fields.
He was the co-founder of one of the top Ad agencies in Arizona and has won several awards for his creative designs and concepts and helped on the success of several brands and identities know all over the world. Now, he resides in Fort Lauderdale, FL as the owner and Creative Director of Moss Creative. Moss now works personally for clients all over the world, is partnered in a Whiskey Speakeasy lounge and has started another business called Moss Adventures. Moss Basecamp is a concept of experiential adventures that will capture the essence of the original Moss Tents brand ethos.
Aussie Expeditions Shayne and Sandra Young - Co-Founders/Expeditions Director/Land Rover Builds
A shared passion for the Overland Lifestyle, a love for each other, together with culinary delights, Land Rovers and animals have brought Shayne & Sandra together. The unlikely duo have cemented their relationship together over campfires, food, wine, moonshine, broken vehicles, mud, rain, sun and other tribulations expected with the nomadic Overlanding lifestyle they have embraced. Shayne is an Australian who has traveled the world since his early 20’s on Ducati and KTM motorcycles and in Land Rovers old and new. A certified Land Rover ACE mechanic, his skills in troubleshooting and fixing vehicles on the trail are second to none. Sandra, an American, is a certified Veterinarian Technician who has skills in animal science and a strong understanding of First-Aid care and treatment. Having mastered the art of Campfire cooking she is happier on the trail than in the kitchen at home…and it shows! Together with their Australian Cattle Dogs - Walt & Matilda, they continue to travel the Globe in their custom built Land Rover Defender 130, not only a base for living but an extremely capable offload machine. Shayne & Sandra have been invited to apprentice at places such as Dairy/Cheese farms in Wales, Olive ranches in Greece to Avocado and Beef farms in Australia, they use the skills they know and learn from their adventures to educate and train others they meet during their travels.
JESSIE KREBS - Professional Guide/Field Trainer
Jessie Krebs is a former U.S. Air Force SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape.) Training Instructor from the old school days when instructors were simply called “Survival Instructors”. As one of a handful of women in the male dominated S.E.R.E. career field, Jessie outsmarted and out-toughed many of her male counterparts in the Air Force to make it through the intense S.E.R.E. training program (class 91-02) and earn her right to a coveted position as an Air Force SERE Specialist.
In 1994, after training hundreds of Air Force personnel to survive in hostile environments world-wide, Jessie received an honorable discharge from the Air Force and began putting her tremendous outdoor leadership skills to use as a back-country mountain guide leading recreational and wilderness therapy expeditions across many stretches of the American Southwest.
In addition to being the Founder & Head Instructor of SERE Training School’s SERE-oriented survival training programs for both civilians and outdoor professionals, Jessie is highly sought-after as a technical consultant and on-screen survival expert for a number of international survival shows including Science Channel’s Hacking The Wild, Fox’s Kicking & Screaming, and National Geographic’s Mygrations where Jessie became one of only a handful of modern human beings ever to complete a primitive crossing of hundreds of miles of Tanzanian Serengeti on foot.
Jim West - Professional Guide/Field Trainer
Jim is a retired Fire Fighter/Paramedic based out of Phoenix, AZ. He and his teammate represented the USA during the 1992 Camel Trophy in Guyana, finishing 2nd overall and bringing home the “Team Spirit” award. Jim was hired back the following year to pre-scout and create a route book for the 1994 Camel Trophy in Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile. As a result, Jim was asked to assist with the selection and training of every US team from 1993-1998. These experiences led Jim to develop a working relationship with Land Rover North America, Wild Trackers, 7P International, and the creation of his own company, MyQuest Adventures, in which he provides driving instruction and emergency medical support and training while on events.
Over the past 29 years, Jim has worked on remote vehicle based events in 20 different countries on 5 continents. He has a passion for teaching, whether it’s emergency vehicle operations to Fire Fighters, off-road driving, recovery, vehicle selection/prep, or wilderness medicine to civilians. Along with Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Paramedic, Wilderness Paramedic, Jim also is certified as a City & Guilds NPTC Off-Road Assessor. Another passion of Jim’s is endurance racing. He has competed in two full Ironman races, dozens of half and shorter distance triathlons, and many mountain bike races.
Jason Drevenak - Professional Guide/Wilderness Survivalist
Jason was president of the North American Bushcraft School and began his relationship with the outdoors as a child on the same property where the North American Bushcraft School operates today. He spent over six years in the U.S. Army as an Airborne combat medical specialist, created and operated The Conch Republic Kayak Company, a sea kayak company and summer camp in Key West, Florida, and has worked at several ACA white water and ocean kayaking schools on the east and west coasts of North America. Jason was the Manager and Head Instructor for The Nantahala Outdoor Center’s Wilderness Survival & Primitive Skills School for several years. Jason is also the Lead Instructor for the Outdoor Leader Degree’s Primitive Living course offered at Southwestern Community College in Bryson City North Carolina. Some of Jason’s mentors include Dr. Erret Callahan, Nancy Basket, Eddie Starnater and Richard Cleveland. Jason regularly teaches and offers demonstrations at the Earthskills Rendezvous in Georgia, Firefly and Piedmont Gatherings in North Carolina and the Mother Earth News Fair in PA. He currently holds an NC and WV EMT-Intermediate certification as well as being an AHA CPR BLS and AED Instructor, Jason also teaches wilderness medicine for Stone Hearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO) and back-country firecraft at the annual Appalachian Wilderness Medical Conference and the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2015 Jason trekked the entire Serengeti National Park in Tanzania Africa with the National Geographic channel for a TV documentary called “Mygrations”
Eddie Angel - Professional Guide/Driving Trainer
Ed is an off-road enthusiast who has spent most of his life dedicated to off-road driving and recovery techniques. During his career he has owned an off-road shop in Alaska where he helped local clubs with training in off-road recovery and driving techniques. During this time he was chosen to go to the Rainforest challenge with Warn industries in 1999 . While there he was asked to build a rig and come back as a competitor. From their he raced in the Outback challenge in Australia. In 2012 he joined the Maya Rally in an old Land Rover he built specifically for this event. He has been a test bed for several companies, Off-road parts including the Warn Zeon wireless winch . He was asked to be in the History Channels show Off-road Warriors but declined from being on TV and worked behind the scenes. He pre ran and marked all trails prior to and during the shows filming. He’s always up for an adventure and challenge and has the skills to overcome most any challenges thrown his way.
